From July 28 to 30, a trade delegation jointly formed by the Macao Special Administrative Region and the Guangdong-Macao In-Depth Cooperation Zone in Hengqin visited Malabo, the capital of Equatorial Guinea, to attend the "Entrepreneurs Meeting for Commercial and Economic Co-operation between China and Portuguese-speaking Countries - Malabo - 2025," aiming to assist Chinese mainland, Hong Kong SAR, and Macao SAR enterprises in expanding into Portuguese-speaking markets.
The meeting attracted over 500 government and business representatives from China and Portuguese-speaking countries.
The Macao Commerce and Investment Promotion Institute (IPIM) organized a 40-member delegation, which included entrepreneurs and representatives from Macao and the Chinese mainland, particularly Hengqin, covering sectors such as commodity trade, cross-border e-commerce, big health, and tourism.
The event yielded fruitful results, including over 120 targeted business matchmaking sessions and the signing of six cooperation agreements in areas such as agricultural products, legal services, transportation, and information technology.
As a key platform for economic and trade cooperation between China and Portuguese-speaking countries, the meeting has been held in rotation among Portuguese-speaking countries since its launch in 2005. By its 16th edition this year, the event has attracted a total of 6,800 participants and facilitated more than 3,900 matchmaking sessions and over 120 signed agreements. The next meeting is scheduled to take place in Mozambique.
Hengqin will continue working with Macao to establish a distribution hub for goods between China and Portuguese-speaking countries, a cross-border investment and financing services center, and a cultural exchange base. It aims to position Hengqin as the gateway for Portuguese-speaking enterprises into the Chinese mainland and as a port for mainland enterprises going global.
